The battle for the 16-year-old’s signature spanned the biggest clubs in Europe, who were all desperate to land the most talked about teenager since Messi himself. Finally though, Ødegaard decided on Los Blancos, with figures of as much as £80k per week being touted as his alleged wages (although we’d be stunned if that is indeed true).
After finally signing with Real Madrid, Martin Ødegaard was quick to delete old tweets praising Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
One of the biggest prospects in the world, Martin Ødegaard finallysigned with Real Madrid on Wednesday with a reported £80,000 per week deal for the 16-year-old.
The former Strømsgodset player was widely pursued by many top European clubs after he quickly rose to prominence in the Danish league. Training with clubs such as Arsenal, Celtic, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and more, Ødegaard was clearly in high demand.
And after signing with Los Blancos, Ødegaard seems to have realized how proud (or serious) his new club were of their history and star player in Cristiano Ronaldo, going on to delete all his old tweets in which he personally praised rival team, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
The Norwegian may have risked the wrath of Real Madrid fans who didn’t notice the tweets but Barcelona fans will surely be taking screenshots of them.
At least he wasn’t pictured in a Barcelona jersey like current Real Madrid stars, Luka Modric and Isco, who were all presumably fans of the Catalan club before they made their eventual moves to the capital.
